-
Corey Lovrich, Jacksonville University Lacrosse, Captain 2011
-
Hard working, great smile, outgoing, a guy everyone wanted to be around on and off the field
-
Recruited by Syracuse
-
Tore his ACL Sr. year of HS in Long Island, NY on Long Beach
-
Decided to attend school and play lacrosse at JU
-
A guy everyone respected on the field and wanted to be around off the field
-
Rehabbed like crazy and was a starter in our first game vs. UNC
-
By the next year he earned captain status as a sophomore
-
Someone who figured out the need to go hard everyday (Win The Day)
-
In our third game that year, 2011, we were playing away in Maryland vs. Mt St. Mary’s
-
Instead, he was having trouble going to the bathroom for a couple days and was diagnosed with colon cancer at the hospital
-
We all visited him in the hospital and his room was littered with cards and flowers
-
He left JU to go back home to Long Island in an attempt to get better and be with his family
-
Corey came out to our game in Everbank Stadium the next year, 2012
-
No doubt his presence and energy on the sideline propelled us to victory against Navy, 12-7
-
It was great having him that weekend, going out, dinner, the works
-
He was one of the boys
-
Hadn’t lost a step
-
Later that summer his cancer reappeared
-
He died shortly thereafter in June of 2012
-
Corey taught me to live everyday like it was my last

-
We have a practice player of the day, PPOD, everyday
-
They earn the right to wear the bracelet as a necklace to school that day
